THE PRIVATE TRAVEL COMPANY TO HOST MAURITIUS TENNIS COACHING WEEK WITH ANDREW CASTLE

The Private Travel Company and First4Tennis are proud to be hosting the Mauritius Tennis Week with former Great Britain No.1 and now renowned commentator Andrew Castle, from 25th September – 3rd October 2017. Guests will enjoy an unforgettable week of professional tennis coaching from Andrew and the First4Tennis team on the tropical island of Mauritius, at the award-winning Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa.

Running the week’s tennis programme with Andrew is professional coaching organisation First4Tennis, headed by their directors, Rupert North and Richard Walmsley.  Together with Andrew and local pros at the resort’s excellent tennis centre, they will guide guests through a fun and varied week of coaching clinics, exhibition matches, and a tournament for those that wish to compete, all against the beautiful backdrop of Mauritius.

About Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa:

Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa is set on the unspoiled south of the island on its own peninsula, encircled by three beaches. Popular with both couples and families, it has a lively atmosphere, fabulous all-inclusive package and an excellent range of activities. Overlooking the Blue Bay Marine Park and housed in 70 acres of award winning tropical gardens, it offers superb tennis facilities with 6 x floodlit hard courts centrally located in the resort. September in Mauritius is perfect for tennis, being one of the driest months of the year and with an average maximum temperature of 24 degrees.

Outside of the tennis, there will be ample time for rest, relaxation and the chance to enjoy the many activities the property has to offer, including pampering in the Spa, 9-hole pitch & putt golf course, extensive watersports such as waterskiing, windsurfing, laser and hobie cat sailing, kayaks, pedalos, snorkelling and glass bottom boat rides.

There are two bars, and four restaurants at Shandrani, all included in the All-Inclusive package – Le Grand Port is the main buffet restaurant overlooking the pool and bay, serving international cuisine; Le Sirius a la carte restaurant faces the marine park with an international menu; Ponte Vecchio is an Italian a la carte trattoria overlooking the main pool; and Teak Elephant is the Thai a la carte option open for dinner.

About Andrew Castle:

Andrew began his professional tennis career in 1986, and represented Great Britain at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul and 1992 Games in Barcelona.  Retiring shortly afterwards he moved seamlessly into the media world, presenting tennis and golf coverage on Sky Sports during the 1990’s, and was an anchor on the GMTV sofa for 10 years until its end in 2010.  Since 2003 he has worked alongside John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors and Boris Becker at Wimbledon, and is the BBC’s lead tennis commentator.

The Programme:

Andrew and the First4Tennis team have a tried and tested formula for covering as much ground as possible, in small coaching groups, but with maximum attention and benefit for the individual’s game.  The programme will consist of comprehensive 6-day coaching programme including tennis assessment, groundstroke clinics and drills, match-play and tactics, net-play clinics and drills, serving clinics, doubles workshops, singles and doubles tournaments and social tennis, as well as plenty of time to enjoy the resort, social events and explore Mauritius itself.
