Modern brasserie to Join Landmark new neighbourhood on Manhattan’s West Side

London’s leading restaurant group D&D London announced today that it will bring a new chef driven restaurant concept to Hudson Yards, Manhattan’s next great neighbourhood spanning 28 acres on the city’s West Side. Slated to open in autumn of 2018, D&D yet to-be-named modern brasserie concept will join the collection of more than a dozen restaurants curated by renowned chef Thomas Keller and Related Urban President and CEO and restaurateur Kenneth A. Himmel.

The full Hudson Yards restaurant collection, which also includes concepts from Chefs José Andrés, Costas Spiliadis and Thomas Keller, will be housed primarily in the one million-square-foot Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards, anchored by Neiman Marcus and designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects. D&D’s new 11,000 square foot restaurant on the fourth floor will serve a menu of modern brasserie cuisine and feature a distinctly New York ambience with dramatic views of Thomas Heatherwick’s Vessel, the Public Square and Gardens and the Hudson River.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be opening a restaurant in what is widely considered to be the most exciting and ambitious development in New York. It has long been a desire of ours to bring a new flagship restaurant to this amazing city. We spent a lot of time considering where to open and believe that the dynamism and creativity of Hudson Yards makes it the ideal location for us,” said Chairman and CEO of D&D Des Gunewardena. “In my view, there is no other city besides London that can match the energy, vibrancy and diversity of the New York dining scene, and we are all incredibly excited to launch a new concept in what we think will become the new heart of Manhattan.”

“Des and D&D have created some of the most exciting and inventive dining concepts in the UK. We are very excited for D&D London to bring their unique perspective to Hudson Yards, the new epicenter of New York dining,” said Kenneth A. Himmel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Related Urban, who is co-curating the dining experiences at Hudson Yards. “Their new concept will be the perfect addition to Manhattan’s newest neighbourhood, and offer an exciting new experience for Hudson Yard’s residents, employees and visitors alike.”

Founded by Des Gunewardena and David Loewi in 2006, following a buyout of Conran Restaurants, D&D London is central to London’s restaurant scene, owning some of the capital’s most celebrated restaurants, including Quaglino’s, Le Pont de la Tour, Chelsea’s famous Bluebird and City favourite, Coq d’Argent. Now, with a portfolio of 35 restaurants and one hotel, D&D London is set to bring its signature style and first class cuisine to one of the largest private real estate developments in American history.

D&D’s new home, Hudson Yards, developed by Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group is the largest private real estate development in the nation’s history. The new neighbourhood will be home to more than 100 shops and restaurants – including New York City’s first Neiman Marcus – dozens of the world’s corporate business leaders, state-of-art modern residences, a unique cultural space, 14-acres of public open space, a new 750-seat public school and a 200-room Equinox® branded luxury hotel – all offering unparalleled amenities for residents, employees and guests.
