Coastal Walks Lympstone Manor

The luxury hotel will offer a range of activities in Devon from kite surfing to cycling from May

London, 16 April 2018…// Lympstone Manor is pleased to announce it will launch a new Adventure Concierge in time for summer. The service will be available to book from May and is ideal for guests looking to discover Devon during their stay. Set on the Exe Estuary, there is a wealth of activities to choose from, including guided walks and tours, fast paced water sports, horse riding, cycling, river cruises and more. With detailed local knowledge, the Adventure Concierge at Lympstone Manor, which opened last year and has already received a prestigious Michelin star, will be on hand to organise bespoke experiences which showcase Devon’s landscape and wildlife.

Devon is home to internationally renowned attractions of natural beauty which are best explored through a range of activities. This includes the Jurassic Coast, England’s first natural World Heritage Site, the Exe Estuary, a site of Special Scientific Interest which Lympstone Manor overlooks, and the sandy beaches and rugged natural beauty of Dartmoor. Guests at the luxury country house hotel can book their preferred activity through the in-house Adventure Concierge before or during their stay, with each experience personalised to suit the individual needs of the hotel guest, from a one-on-one kite surfing lesson to horse riding on the beach.

Guided walks and Devon tours

Lympstone Manor’s Activities Concierge offers a range of guided walks, perfect to discover the best of Devon on foot. Enjoy a walk along the Jurassic Coast with cliffs, rocks and fossils that date back 185 million years through the Earth’s ancient past, through the heaths and exposed granite of Dartmoor, or along the Exe Estuary, with a coastal habitat which supports a range of international wintering and migratory water birds. Visit during migration season in autumn for optimal birdwatching. The Adventure Concierge also provides private tours with a driver and guide, all of which can be tailored to suit the interests of each guest, whether this is an in-depth exploration of historic Exeter, visiting atmospheric Powderham Castle or learning about Devon’s famous personalities including Dame Agatha Christie and Sir Francis Drake.

Water sports and river cruises

Lympstone Manor can arrange a host of activities that are perfect for exploring the local area on water, with individual tuition, guides and independent equipment hire available. Taking place on the estuary in front of the hotel or along the Jurassic Coast, guests can try out stand-up paddle boarding, water skiing, open top kayaking, wind surfing, canoe hire and river cruises. Kite surfing is also available, with Exmouth known as one of the top places in the UK to enjoy this activity due to its many locations suitable for different wind directions and tides. There are large areas of shallow water in the Exe Estuary that are perfect for beginners, as well as waves along Exmouth Seafront for those who are more experienced. Book this in for spring to take advantage of the consistent winds during this season.

Horse riding, cycling and golf

The Adventure Concierge can arrange other ways for guests to explore Devon while keeping active during their stay. This includes horse riding, with lessons, hacks and treks available along the Woodbury Common, and golf at Exeter Golf and Country Club, Woodbury Park and East Devon Golf Club. Cycling fans won’t want to miss out on Lympstone Manor’s complimentary Pashley bicycle hire and the Exe Estuary Trail’s cycle path, which passes through the hotel’s grounds. Guests can choose to travel south on-bike to Exmouth and historic Topsham or north to the city of Exeter.
