Sauce loves… Canton Tea X The Wolseley Caramel Tea
Is it just us, or have you noticed an increased popularity in tea lately? With premium restaurants such as The Wolseley upping their tea game, it’s becoming evermore likely that when you take your seat in one of the UK’s fine dining establishments, you’ll come face-to-face with a list of high quality, diverse tea offerings.
Canton Tea, luxury wholesale supplier to the premium hospitality sector, works in partnership with many of these restaurants, allowing establishments to remain ahead of the curve and offer a varied selection of sustainably and ethically sourced teas to a clientele becoming increasingly interested in alcohol alternatives that deliver on both flavour and quality.
As such, Canton Tea’s collaboration with The Wolseley has recently announced the launch of its latest development, Caramel Tea, and we were lucky enough to get our hands on a sample in the office to see what it’s all about.
We brewed the tea and held on the sugar, instead choosing to get to grips with the true flavours of the tea leaves, and our first impression was one of surprise: Canton Tea’s Caramel Tea, in collaboration with The Wolseley, smells sweet as caramel should but surprisingly it isn’t to the tast. In fact, the tea is surprisingly savoury – in the very best of ways. Smooth, velvety, warm liquid trickling down our throats was a nostalgic nod to the indulgence of rich caramel, whilst the nilgiri black tea leaves sent waves of aromatic intensity through our palates, perfecting the balance between sweet and savoury and resulting in a tea that is superb in quality.
The only thing that might make it better is if we had some of The Wolseley’s Salted Caramel shortbreads to go with it!
