Christmas Parties at Tom’s Kitchen
With the festive season round the corner, and a great selection of private, semi-private and exclusive spaces available, Tom’s Kitchen is the perfect place to celebrate. Christmas and New Year at Hotel Cafe Royal with Malone Souliers
Christmas is coming in refined British splendour at Hotel Café Royal, one of London’s most iconic luxury hotels. This Christmas they have partnered with British luxury footwear label, Malone Souliers, to create a stunning, floating Christmas tree which will enjoy pride of place in the heart of the hotel from the 30th November 2015. The ceiling height Christmas tree will be clad in festive red suede, and beautifully decorated with 150 colourful Malone Souliers shoes, while a pop up shoe parlour will grace the entrance to the hotel, allowing guests some perfect last minute shopping!
Whole aromatic goose this Christmas at Hutong
This winter, Northern Chinese restaurant Hutong will be offering a whole goose served with butterfly buns and three special sauces: roast goose gravy, black pepper sauce and home-made plum sauce. Marinated for 12 hours using traditional Chinese spices, the goose boasts a sensational flavour and aroma. This limited edition dish is available from 30th November (£95); it serves a minimum of 5 people and must be pre-ordered with a reservation. Lodge d’Argent returns to Coq d’Argent
Following the success of last year’s Lodge d’Argent winter pop- up, City restaurant Coq d’Argent will once again be creating a magical Alpine themed winter wonderland. Running from 18th November, Lodge d’Argent will evoke the feeling of winter, allowing guests to snuggle up while enjoying hearty tartifflettes, contemporary French après-ski snacks and winter warmer cocktails against the wintery backdrop. www.coqdargent.co.uk/
Tis the season for a delicious cocktail at Kensington Place, D&D
The team at Kensington Place this festive season will offer two great seasonal cocktails, the Père Noël, and the Aztec cocoa cocktail. The Aztec cocoa is a twist on Mexican hot chocolate, with El Jimador Blanco Tequila, chilli, cinnamon, allspice, and rich dark chocolate. Both cocktails are priced at £10.25.
Luxury Christmas Hampers from Hotel Café Royal
Throughout November and December a range of luxury Christmas hampers will be available from Hotel Café Royal, each including a selection of delicious food and drink items from The Café’s menus. The Mayfair (£150) includes The Café treats such as truffles, mince pies and Veueve Cliquot and more. The Piccadilly (£250) includes savoury options foie gras, Iberico ham, a selection of cheeses, Christmas Puddings and two bottles of fine wine and much more. The Regent (£650) is the largest hamper- a selection of the treats being Cafe Royal’s finest treats, savoury items, fine cheeses, teas, and fine wines. Yeotown‘s take on a festive pumpkin pie!
Yeotown -an award-winning UK health retreat based in rural North Devon, one of the most picturesque areas of the UK. This recipe comes from the highly inspiring husband and wife team, Mercedes Ngoh Sieff and Simon Sieff,co-founders of Yeotown. Easy to make with no refined sugars, unhealthy fats or dairy, this little autumnal gem of a recipe is one of Mercedes favourite’s and a must-try for the upcoming holiday season!
Ingredients for Pie Base:
- 500g pumpkin
- 4 oz de-stoned medjool dates
- 6 oz. pecans
- 2 tbsp almond butter
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1/2 juice of a lemon
Cut the pumpkin into two chunky slices and bake in the oven (keeping the skin on) for 40 minutes at 150 degrees.Whilst the pumpkin is baking begin to make your pie base. Blend the nuts and dates in a food processor until a fine crumb consistency. Add the almond butter and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and coconut oil then give a quick blast in the blender to combine. Press this mix into a 20cm flan tin, raising the mix up the sides of the tin and smooth out with the back of a spoon to create the pie case.Chill whilst you make the filling
Ingredients for Filling:
- 100g Coconut cream
- 50g Dates
- 2 tbsp Maple Syrup
- 2 tsp Cinnamon
- Zest and juice of 1/2 lemon
- Nutmeg to grate
After baking for 40 minutes, remove the pumpkin from the oven and check it is tender using a fork. Scrape the pumpkin from the skin and blend until you are left with a pulp-like consistency. Add the rest of the ingredients (the softened coconut cream last!). Whizz together, check the flavour for sweetness and spices and sweeten to taste using the maple syrup. Pour into chilled tart case and add a little grated nutmeg on the top. Chill for a minimum of 2 hours. Serve from the fridge as the filling will soften at room temperature

Plum + Spilt Milk at the Great Northern Hotel is offering a superb celebratory menu which is to run from the 30th November to 1st January. The 3 course menu will cost £45 per person and each dish can be paired with a wine specially chosen for the occasion by their sommelier. Highlights include Roast Norfolk Bronze turkey with all the trimmings and Herb-crusted fillet of cod, creamed leeks & chanterelles all served with duck-fat roast potatoes & seasonal vegetables.
The JFC Feasting Basket at Flesh & Buns
Following its success last year, Flesh & Buns will be bringing ‘finger lickin’ holiday cheer back to London with the Japanese Fried Chicken (JFC) Feasting Basket. From the 1st to the 23rd December, diners at the Covent Garden restaurant will be able to tuck into a steamer basket of Buttermilk and shichimi fried half-chicken with BBQ mayonnaise, served with a fresh salad and signature steamed buns, followed by a rich and chocolatey Yamazaki cake and all washed down with a Spiced rum and grenadine hard shake. Designed to share, the Japanese Fried Chicken Feasting Basket is priced at £37.00 for two.
Christmas at German Gymnasium
Celebrate the festive season at German Gymnasium, with Christmas menus and stunning interiors creating the perfect venue for intimate dinners, drink receptions and lavish parties. German Gymnasium is open throughout December, with special celebrations on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and over the New Year. Escape the Oxford Street Christmas shopping crowds at Chi Kitchen
If you’ve already started to dread the hordes of Christmas shoppers on Oxford Street, we may well have the perfect solution for you. Opening tomorrow (7th November) on the ground floor of Debenhams Oxford Street is a new pan-Asian restaurant from the team behind Mango Tree. In prime position for a quick break from shopping, Chi Kitchen will offer a diverse all day dining menu with dishes as varied as Beef kushiyaki; Korean steak with Bulgogi sauce; and Seabass with chilli and lime to take diners on a journey across southeast Asia and away from the crowds.
Enjoy an alternative Christmas at LIMA Floral
Tired of Turkey already? Peruvian restaurant LIMA Floral in Covent Garden will be serving a three course Christmas lunch menu and five course Christmas dinner with fresh and unique dishes, including Palm heart ceviche, Sword Fish escabeche and Mushroom Huancaina, that are true to their Latin American roots. Priced at £28 for lunch and £45 for dinner, the menu will be available from 16th November and is perfect for those looking for something a little more out of the ordinary this festive season.
Christmas menus at Mango Tree Belgravia
Thai institution Mango Tree Belgravia will be celebrating Christmas this year with a Thai inspired festive menu. Beginning with a sharing platter including grilled king scallop with Thai spicy garlic sauce, grilled lamb marinated in honey and crispy soft shell crab with salt and chill seasoning, the menu goes on to include main courses of beef massaman, baked seabass marinated in Thai herbs and smoked turkey breast in black bean sauce and culminates in a delicious mango cheesecake for a Thai alternative to Christmas pudding. The menu will be priced at £49.95 and is available for parties of four or more.
New festive hotspots
If nothing but the newest, hottest, coolest spot in town will do for your do, you’re not short on options this Christmas. There’s Snowhere Like Shack!
From 10th December to 16th January 2016, Shake Shack will be serving up a variety of seasonal items at both Covent Garden and Westfield Stratford Shacks. Check out the Alpine Bacon Burger (£7.25) – a 100% Aberdeen Angus beef burger topped with melted Appenzeller cheese sauce and British free range Wiltshire cure smoked bacon or the Gingerbread Apple Caramel concrete (£5.50/£8) – vanilla frozen custard blended with Bread Ahead Ginger cake and almond cider caramel sauce.
