Sauce Loves… London Cocktail Week
It’s Friday again, Hurray! This week we are looking ahead to London Cocktail Week. Running from the 6th-12th October the event allows us to indulge in our favourite tipple for 7 days straight. Just make sure you make it into work at least once!
A drink superior to most others, the good old cocktail actually originated in 18th Century London (Sorry America, but we’re taking this one).
Flaming, muddled, shaken, stirred, mixologists across the capital are coming up with even more epic creations for this event.
Wristbands priced at £10 will get you £4 speciality cocktails and a tour of the main bars participating in the event. They will need to be picked up at participating hubs and can purchased here.

Great Northern Hotel Bar
The grandeur of this King’s Cross hotel is striking, but the real magic will be happening at the bar during London Cocktail Week. The GNH BAR will be creating outstanding cocktails during the week and their Smoked Plum Martini is priced at just £4 with a wrist band! It includes Konik’s Tail Vodka stirred with Umeshu – Plum Wine, home-made cherry syrup, smoked Antica Formula and a few dashes of Plum bitters. Expect the wow factor with this one.
Bluebird in Chelsea
Cointreau lovers unite, this triple sec classic is sponsoring the South West London hub, located within the Bluebird. The courtyard of the popular Chelsea restaurant will be offering complimentary cocktail sampling of the weeks signature drink: The Cointreau Fizz. Wristbands can also be collected from the restaurant.
What happens when an all American restaurant and a traditional Scottish whisky come together. Amazing things, that’s what. The New Orleans bread & butter pudding is an exclusive throughout the week, and includes a brown-butter & Glenfarclas Whiskey caramel sauce and candied almonds flakes. It’s not strictly a cocktail, but priced at £7 , there’s no better way to satisfy those alcohol induced munchies. Mojito Slushies are also available if you’re looking for a cocktail with your pudding!
Flesh and Buns
Flesh and Buns might not be the first place that springs to mind for cocktails, but it should definitely be on your list. Enjoy a Hokuto Sour with a wristband, it pairs perfectly with their pork bun.
Enjoy a $Dollar Shake cocktail at the bar at City Social (newly awarded with a Michelin Star!). A delicious mix of Diplomatico Anjeo Rum, split milk, chocolate yoghurt and a hint of walnut, all to be enjoyed in front of City Social’s breathtaking view. Made by genius mixologist Gareth Evans, this is one stop not to be missed…
Peruvian restaurant LIMA Floral, is hosting the Difford’s Guide Pisco Punch pop-up. The Difford’s Guide crew will be shaking up delicious Pisco Punch cocktails, topped with champagne for just £4 for LCW wristband wearers. Come to Lima Floral and experience the best cocktails in London Cocktail Week!
Hotel Cafe Royal
This hotel is steeped in history and their Green Bar is offering a range of vibrant cocktails during the week. The Peruvian Lady, Spotlight and Thai Lady are exclusives the event. The Spotlight (pictured) contains Pampero Especial coco beans infused, Tianum Montepulciano red wine, Dark Crème de Cacao, fresh lime juice and honey syrup.
Other must taste cocktails during the week include:
Old Victorian: A British take on the Mojito. Fino Sherry mixed with elderflower liqueur, lemon, peach puree and mint – a cocktail to keep the summer alive!
Gin Spot Sour: The Botanist Gin, lemon juice and fresh egg white, shaken with fresh passion fruit and sugar syrup. Served short on the rocks
The Figue Martini: Woodford Reserve Bourbon, goji berry liqueur, creme de figue, gomme and lengthened with cranberry juice.
Gin Quininey, Gin Quininey, Gin Gin Yuzu: A bottled cocktail consisting of Portobello Road Gin, Yuzu cordial, green tea, malic acid and tonic bitters.
Marancini: Martini Rosso, Martini Extra Dry, Bombay Sapphire gin and freshly squeezed orange juice.
