North Wales country house hotel offers fishing experiences with local ghillie

London, September 2018 / Palé Hall is delighted to launch its new fishing experiences, the perfect way to experience fishing in the heart of Wales. Palé Hall, the only five-star hotel in North Wales, is the perfect base for fishing enthusiasts. Within this area of North Wales, a wealth of opportunities are offered for both the novice and experienced fisherman. From coarse fishing on the great Bala Lake for perch, pike and roach to fly fishing for wild brown trout and salmon on small mountain lakes and streams, it can all be experienced here in the beautiful Dee Valley.

The River Dee is renowned as one of the finest grayling rivers in Europe, having played host to several high-profile international events in recent years. Both grayling and brown trout are regularly caught on guided wild fly fishing packages that can be arranged upon request through the hotel. Salmon and sea trout are also present seasonally on the River Dee and offer a great sport for the more accomplished angler.

Palé Hall’s guided wild fly fishing package is led by a local and knowledgeable ghillie, Steve Wood. From the beginner who wants to learn the basics to the experienced angler who wants a memorable fly fishing experience in this area, lessons, tuition and guidance can be arranged for all levels of fishing.

This new experience is part of the hotel’s bespoke guest offering, which provides visitors with several ways to discover North Wales. As well as fishing, guests can also enjoy other activities arranged by the hotel, including birds of prey experiences, water sports, cycling and shooting parties, the perfect way to get back to nature at Palé Hall.

Palé Hall holds five season tickets for Bala Lake and district angling association waters (Upper Dee, Llyn Cwmprysor, River Tryweryn, Llafar, Llyn Maes y Clawdd). The hotel provides day permits and equipment hire for guests to fish on the waters, while guests need to obtain personal fishing rod licenses from the government website and are advised to bring their own waterproofs and boots. The best time of year for fishing is the 1st March – 7th October, with August the best time for salmon and June great for grayling.

The Guided Wild Fly Fishing experience is available upon request, with prices starting for a full day from £120 per person and £80 per person for a half day. Palé Hall can also offer rod and equipment hire at £40 per person, including everything you need for a day’s fishing. Additionally, picnic lunches are available from the hotel from £22.50 per person.
