Roast Launches Quintessentially British Afternoon Tea
Borough Market institution, Roast, has now launched a delicious afternoon tea featuring all the favourite classic British teatime treats. Set in a majestic, light-filled room overlooking the historic market, Roast is the ideal location for afternoons spent catching up with friends and family over sandwiches, scones, cakes and fancies, alongside lashings of tea and Champagne.
Served from Monday to Saturday, 12–6pm, the afternoon tea starts with an elegant plateful of finger sandwiches including Coronation chicken; Roast beef, watercress, horseradish and mustard; Sun-dried tomato and basil; Cucumber, cream cheese and mint and Smoked salmon with crème fraîche. Freshly-baked scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam follow, along with an assortment of cakes and sweets. The selection is set to change seasonally but will include the likes of a classic Victoria sponge, Carrot cake, Sticky date pudding and Lemon posset shot.
To drink, guests have the choice of twelve different teas, ranging from the traditional English Breakfast and Earl Grey, to the more unusual Jasmine Pearls or Pai Mu Tan. To make it a real celebration, there is also the option to add a glass of Champagne or English sparkling wine. Afternoon Tea at Roast is priced at £25pp or £30pp with the addition of Champagne.
