CANTON TEA X The Wolseley Caramel Tea

Canton Tea

Canton Tea, luxury wholesale supplier to the premium hospitality sector, is delighted to announce the latest addition to its range at The Wolseley; The Wolseley Caramel Tea. The perfect choice for the adventurous tea drinker, The Wolseley Caramel Tea skilfully combines nilgiri black tea leaves and natural caramel giving a velvety, rich blend. This fragrant tea can be taken sweetened for those looking for an indulgent drink, or unsweetened for a refreshing and surprisingly savoury flavour.

As with all Canton teas, the leaves in The Wolseley Caramel Tea are carefully handpicked and crafted to tease out the sweetest notes and most complex flavours. Completely unique, the tea is produced by a small co-operative of farmers in the Sahyadri mountains of Southern India. This co-operative is part of an NGO organised by the female run Peermade Development Society whose purpose is to improve the lives of poor and marginalised members of society, particularly women and children, in rural southern India. The loose-leaf tea is then elegantly packaged in a re-usable gold tin with distinctive Chinoiserie detailing inspired by the iconic interiors of The Wolseley on Piccadilly.

Founder of Canton Tea, Jennifer Wood comments “The Wolseley is all about blending traditional quality with style and innovation, so for us at Canton it was a pleasure to express this in an exclusive new Caramel Tea. We love it that they not only serve this rich, smooth, deeply satisfying tea in the restaurants (and it goes down superbly with the Afternoon Tea) but they also have it as part of The Wolseley’s wonderful retail collection. This means anyone can buy a caddy of Caramel Tea to drink at home or give away as a gorgeous gift.”

The new range will comprise an original Caramel Tea created by Canton, Salted Caramel Shortbread and Salted Caramel Florentines.

On sale from 25th March, The Wolseley Caramel Tea forms part of the new ‘Caramel Collection’ available to enjoy in The Wolseley or to purchase online, in the Piccadilly flagship and from The Wolseley Shop’s first dedicated retail space, adjacent to Café Wolseley at Bicester Village.

NOTES TO EDITOR

One of London’s best loved restaurants from Corbin & King, The Wolseley and Canton Tea first partnered in June 2018, introducing a range of biodegradable pyramid teabags in the following flavours: Assam, Yunnan Green and Jasmine Bud. The two brands came together in recognition of the importance of serving impeccably sourced and immaculately presented teas.

ABOUT CANTON TEA

This contemporary British brand, founded in 2007 by Jennifer Wood, promotes positive, ethical practice in the tea trade and holds education, sustainability and alliance at the heart of its proposition. These are the values that ensure all teas supplied by Canton are authentic, intoxicating and beautiful.

Canton Tea seeks out the best artisan teas and buys fresh tea each season, direct from small, traditional gardens in the most remote parts of the world, where tea bushes have grown for hundreds of years. Canton Tea knows the provenance of every leaf in the range, having established direct relationships with the farmers where the leaves are handpicked and handcrafted to tease out the sweetest notes and the most complex flavours.

The range, which is made up of 33 teas, with the addition of six to eight limited editions at any one time, is served in some of the most exclusive hotels and restaurants in the UK including: Petersham Nurseries, Soho House, Pollen Street Social, The Mandarin Oriental, Hotel Café Royal, China Tang at The Dorchester and The Waterside Inn.
